NHCS Athletics: COVID-19 Impact on Spring Sports

SALISBURY, NC - As of Thursday evening, March 12, our state athletic association (the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association) announced that it has suspended all spring sports indefinitely. This suspension is in effect as of today which includes all Middle School and High School interscholastic games and scrimmages and will continue until further notice.

We are permitted to continue with our practice/training sessions. After talks with Mrs. Lowder and other member schools in our athletic conference, we have elected to continue with practices as long as our school continues to remain open and there is no threat to our student-athletes. I believe that by continuing our practice sessions it will help with the morale of our athletes and give them an opportunity to focus on the sports they love during this difficult time.

After speaking with my Head Coaches, all Spring sports (baseball, golf, and soccer) will continue practicing with modified schedules beginning next week. I will send them out in my regular weekly events email. The health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes is our top priority and we will continue to monitor this situation with all of that in mind.

Although this news is certainly disappointing and disruptive for our student-athletes, I ask you to continue praying for our school and a speedy end to this situation so we may return to a normal schedule once again.
